Salud! Vino
Logo Design, Brand Identity, Packaging
I never got to do a product packaging project in college. I don't know why or how I missed it. At the time, my Christian university wouldn't allow wine packaging. And I love wine, especially my reds.
Introducing Salud. She's my cabernet when I want to be away.
Gen Z and Millennials are drinking less. And dry January is becoming popular now.
I wanted the wine bottle to be informative for people just getting into wine. The younger generation (yes, that's no longer me) is drinking less, and drinking wines less than cocktails or beer.
Wines have a very refined presence. It's not a drink you throw back at a party. It's a drink that sits with you at the party. You sip, chat, and enjoy. Or, if you are like me, you sip, light a candle, and watch TV.
Gen Z and millennials now read labels and care about what they consume. In addition to providing wine information, I wanted to remind them to be responsible and drink water.

The Label
I want it to feel like I had bottled the wine and labeled it myself to give to a friend, hence I used my avatar. I wanted the exclamation point to sit above the avatar's head on the wine label. Similar to when a character exclaims or becomes alert. The space between the exclamation point and Salud echoes the pause that happens right after a cheer.
You'll find information on the back label on how to pair the wine and what flavors to expect.
Colors to consider…
Because I wanted the wine to be beginner-friendly, I didn't want a label that looked posh. Usually, those color palettes are very dark, like blacks and maroons, or rich like emerald greens or ruby reds.
I wanted a color palette that said I am independent and welcoming to others. I pulled the color palette from photos with dim cozy lights. I sampled colors from the dim parts of a room and highlights from where the candle or yellow light illuminated. I then lifted the brightness of the dark colors to bring back some vibrancy. This gave me a mixture of soft tones and bright colors for accents and contrast.
